Behind the Screens

Exhibition of work by Jono Sandilands

14 July - 3 August - Old Haa Museum

Burravoe, Yell, Shetland, ZE2 9AY

The work in this exhibition shows a selection of my personal and collaborative work from over the past five years, capturing moments in time and showing how my practice as a visual artist and printmaker has developed. Much of the time, I look to alternative methods for image making and printmaking - which get me away from the computer screen - where I spend much of my 9-5 working day as a graphic designer.

The exhibition is at the Old Haa in Yell, Shetland. I’m connected to Yell on both sides of the family; on my Mum’s side - Jim Tulloch (1933 - 2004) originally from Cullivoe, who moved to Whalsay in 1949. My Dad is a son of Ruby Williamson (1915 - 1995) from Colvister, North Yell. Ruby was well known for being the district nurse around the isles.

After graduating from Grays School of Art, Aberdeen in 2009 I have been working for Shetland Arts as an in-house Graphic Designer. I am now studying at the University of the West of England, Bristol, working towards a MA in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking.
